Individual Therapy
In my view, the overarching aims of therapy can be boiled down to two main goals: First, that you - as my client - feel as comfortable and safe in the therapeutic setting as possible, and second, that you thrive as a person, whatever that may mean to you. I will spend time talking with you about what is important to you in your life, and I will also focus on the therapeutic relationship between us, because this can often be a window through which we can view other significant relationships in your life.
I may challenge you to think about yourself in different ways, though always in a supportive manner. I will view you as a whole person as opposed to a collection of symptoms/diagnoses, and we will work to create more meaning in your life and not just remove unwanted symptoms. Aside from a few rare exceptions which will be discussed at the outset of therapy, everything that we will talk about during our sessions will be confidential.
